The Destin Shrimp & Grits Festival is one of the area’s most anticipated culinary events, bringing together top chefs to showcase their unique takes on this classic Southern dish. This year, Chef David Cunningham and the Cinders & Salt team were honored to compete, bringing bold flavors and innovative techniques to the table. We’re thrilled to share that our signature gumbo took home People’s Choice 3rd Place—a recognition that means the world to us!

A Winning Dish with Deep Southern Roots

For this event, Chef David also featured his famous Shrimp N Grits Nassau, a dish that perfectly embodies his signature coastal-inspired cuisine. This showstopping plate featured creole-spiced shrimp, rosemary, andouille, smoked tomato, a chardonnay lemon broth, and garlic butter, blending rich flavors with a refined touch. It was an absolute crowd favorite, and we couldn’t be more proud to showcase it at such an incredible event.
